Nice

Just a suggestion: Make it loop. It works better that way.

Thanks

No annoying trance arpeggios from you, that's good. I'm really getting sick of the guys here at NG. Trance, trance, trance and more trance. I don't know why I keep reviewing. I thought mcTrance died at the turn of the millenium, damn it, what's with you people?!?!?!?!?!
Well anyway...
This is the most evocative track I have ever heard in NG. You've got a really good atmosphere going here. The lead that starts at 1:41 sounds a little out of place on top of that relatively spare arrangement, but it doesn't spoil the atmosphere. If you get rid of that I guess it will sound better. Less is more. Other than that, great work.

Get rid of all rhythm

Nice soundscapes. I was enjoying it a little. Then you tried making it trance, like every other fucking song in this damn website (don't know why I keep reviewing) and fucked it up. You should try your hand at ambient. You've got no ear for melody, song structure and you can't mix. You do have a good ear for atmosphere, though. Get the best out of it.

Korpze responds:

ive seen worse songs than this on the top 5 lol....
shit...
and what do you mean "tried to make trance"
trance is a mixture of ambient, house, and techno. its suppose to have ambient!
=/
--- Edit:
Trance: "...The style is arguably derived from a combination of largely electronic music such as ambient music, techno, and house..." lol look it up. its at a lot of places

This is just wrong

The first few seconds seemed ok. Then the drums kick in and I'm left speechless. How the hell does someone screw up the tempo like that?! You're probably 10. I should go easy... But I won't. Stop making music. Everybody's more talented than you.

EpicMastermind responds:

chillax...I know the drums don't match...I just added them in for fun...

I feel violated

A lot of good stuff there, murdered by dance music clichés that don't fit in - specifically the trance lead that comes in at around 2:30 and the drum rolls (don't really know what to call them). It's a track with an identity crisis. Is it dark, fierce, hypnotic, evil, or is it radio friendly mcTrance? It's both, obviously, but I don't like it that way. It angered me, to be quite honest.
Imagine I'm a girl. I'm going out with this guy... He's charming, funny, sensitive... I'm loving his company. Then by the end of the date I'm kissing him goodbye, he rips my clothes off and rapes me on the spot.
That's what this felt like.
Work on being a charming guy, or on being a rapist. They're both ok. Date rapists, those I don't like.

Enjoyable

The music is a little repetitive but the lyrics make up for it. Maybe it would sound better if the guitar sounded heavier or the bass were more danceable.
As for your voice... Have you ever considered getting into throat singing? You growl some impressive low notes there.

TheBardOfBlasphemy responds:

Thanks for the feedback... it's refreshing to actually get some constructive criticism on this site! The elements you identified are possible areas for improvement but the mix is as it is... once I'd heard this for the 100th time I'd had enough and so I posted it how it was.

As for the vox... shit man... I got gravel rash on my vocal chords as it was after singing this... I think I need to practise more so they can scab up and get tougher or something coz I was shagged by the end of this one!

Funny

Well actually it isn't all that bad. Heard much worse around here. Respect for your honesty, though. Your friend's voice is hillarious, by the way. And I love how you built up tension, only to kick us in the face with his voice.

How incredibly well done!

Good production, good dynamics, good structure to the music, good interplay between the individual layers of instruments. Respectable effort.
Personally, I hate this kind of music.
And your comments for this track paint a portrait of an overly cocky producer. I'm not too fond of that, either.
But still, the music is well done. Very well done. Can't complain about that. You should go pro, if you aren't already.

Kr1z responds:

Thx for the compliments!
overly cocky me? :P in no way :)
Ive worked hard on this piece and im telling the details in the comments.

Anyway, glad u kinda liked it!
Bye!

LIMITERS!!!!

Hey, weren't you the one who made my head explode earlier?
This is well done but you've got to learn to use limiters!
Your music doesn't sound as loud as professional music, you notice, so you turn up the volume so it's as loud as your software can make it. If the meter shows red, that's bad. You should keep the mix at or below 0db at all times, or you shouldn't allow it to go much lower. Then, once it's done, you take your mastering gear/software (EQ, compressor, equaliser, etc...) and make it loud. The difference is that it's compressed into sounding louder, not harsher. The way you do it sounds harsh, nearly unlistenable.

LoneSniper responds:

Yes i certainly am the one who made your head explode earlier, but thanks for the advice because im new to this track mixing, i'll bear that in mind.
