No substance

Nice graphics, nice animation style. These are all the nice things I can say about this cartoon.
You have all the flash skills to make good cartoons, you're just not interesting enough to be entertaining. How old are you? You sound like you're 13, maybe 14 or 15. At that age, you ought to be dedicating your time to growing up, not making cartoons. I mean, it's ok to make cartoons, if that makes you happy, but reading your comments and your reactions to bad reviews, it's obvious that you life IS flash. If you have no experience in the real world, how can you ever hope to be a good storyteller?
I think you should try stepping out of your room, making friends and just fucking LIVING. In a couple of years you may be ready to tell stories. As of now, you're a sad, lonely, obnoxious little kid with no life trying to prove himself to the world through flash. Flash skills alone don't do the trick. You need substance, and there's virtually none of it on display here.

Snubby responds:

I don't know who you think you are, but where do you get off summing up my life in the fashion you are. It is obvious that you are jealous of my skills, because you are insulting me and telling me I have no friends when you don't even know me.

How did you aquire all this valuable information about how to be a good Flash artist when you have 0 talent in the area and can't even produce something decent enough to win an award, let alone anything over 3.2. You have no place, and I mean NO place giving advice on what I should be doing with my life, because 1) You don't know me, and 2) You have no knowledge of Flash or how to get better at it. If you did, you would be better seeing as you are 18.

Get some friends, step out of my room? Live? How the fuck do you know what I do with my time. I dedicate mornings to animation, and the rest of the day I spend with mates. Challenging one about their number of friends is getting so trendy these days on the internet, and the fact of the matter is just because I am good at Flash doesn't mean I don't have a life. Fuck man, I've had girlfriends, I have friends, and I have a life. And judging how you are dripping with charisma, I'm tempted to say you have none of the above.

Why would I win awards, get my own series page, get 2000 people a day on my site, get loads of dough in ads and donations, and get plenty of fan mail if my cartoons are as bad as you say they are? Factually speaking, my cartoons are very popular, and that is why they do so well.

And don't even think that just because I took the time to respond to your review I am proving your point more, because guess what? Responding to all reviews, both good and bad, is something a lot of people do, and the reason being because it is simply fun. I enjoy telling off jealous, talentless, beatniks like yourself, and I also like thanking those who took the time to give me a decent review.

Don't PM me, I don't want to hear from you. Infact, I have you blocked as of now, so don't even bother. Think about what I'm saying to you, you don't know what you are talking about because you cannot do Flash. Seriously, how can you tell others how to improve Flash if you are a total doofis at it? You can't.

You have no respect on my end.

Old School NG

I remember a time when most of the stuff in the NG portal was this kind of short brutal cartoon. They were all pretty pointless too. I miss those days. NG is too fancy nowadays. I enjoyed this. Nice graphics, by the way, especially for a first timer.

TehDeuce responds:

Thanks, I'm glad this brought back some good memories for you.

Kind of nice

It's not bad at all. I rather enjoyed Osama Bin Laden. However, you're obviously a fan of Beebo, and it feels a lot like a rip-off. Not only in the graphics but also in the writing and voice acting.

Pete-the-poe responds:

hmm.. "Rip off"... ok then. I'll make it better.

Well it kind of disapointed me. Since you said "phew" in the begining of your comment I expected a great flash animation. It wasn't that good. Don't get me wrong though. It's good. The animation's smooth and it's quite full of stuff and easter eggs were a nice addition even though I couldn't find any. The problem I have with this is actually not the animation. It's the lag in the song every time it changes scenes. I thought it was going to be a minor detail but no. It was really hard not to notice. I personally take sound very seriously when I make flash animation so I criticise quite a bit the sound. Ignore me ;)
I like it and it was well done. It shows that there was effort put into it.

Apeman505 responds:

Yah, the reason it skips is because I divided the movie into scenes and had a movie clip with the music streamed inside of it in each one. I had to tell the music to start at exactly the right spot every time the scene changed. Not too difficult to do, since I just measured the lengths of each scene. This method should have worked, but it didn't and I had to keep adjusting it. It's still not perfect, and I tried copying all the frames into the same scene, but that didn't work. TONS of information got screwed up when I tried it, so if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it I'm all ears.

Well, not literally....

I don't like it

As Ramy_kilano said before me, you should work in your graphics. It all seems like it was done in 10 seconds. What I want to say is that 4 layers isn't good news. In my movies, depending in the scenes, I use a lot more. In my "The new guy" series, the average number of layers in a scene is about 16. And that's just one scene. There are scenes in which I use more. Even the 5 second scenes that use less layers have more than 4 layers. 4 layers just makes the animation seem rushed. I hope you get better with time.

mmark-oldflash responds:

This is exactly what I've been telling everyone not to do. DO NOT COMPARE MY SERIES TO OTHERS! Just watch it as it is. I know that hard for people you, but give it a chance.

Starts promising

But why is that red thing in the picture when he looks at his plan? Plus, there are two songs playing at the same time when that happens. What's your problem anyway? If it's this, all you got to do is to delete the frames you used for this purpose. I doubt you don't know how to do this, considering the quality of the animation in the rest of the short.

Atompie responds:

OMFg, read the Author's comments

I like you drawing style and all. The animation's not bad but could use more movement. I noticed that when the frog jumps on the ball on the stick, the stick moves a bit(it's a hand isn't it?). you could avoid that by making the center of the symbol be in the bottom of the hand so you wouldn't have to move it when downsizing it. It would also look smoother. Good job in making a cool music video, anyway.

danbell responds:

Thanks for the tip but that's not what I was tryin to get across. Haha, it's not a frog and I don't know where you're going with the whole ball and stick thing, but none the less, thank you for your input.

Pretty cool...

But I prefer Ytown public. I noticed you used some of the music of Ytown public also(right in the begginning). Are you planning on making more episodes of Ytown public or are you going to stick to detective frofrog?

I also noticed you've changed your animation style. Personnally, I preffer the Ytown Public style. But this is also cool. Probably takes more time. A change is healthy. People get bored of doing the same thing all the time so I would understand if you gave up Ytown Public.

The music during this short is cool because it's kind of pathetic, like Neverhood chronicles, which is a good thing because that game happens to be one of my favourites. Probably you don't even know the game but it's still cool. It fits the short.

About the humour, it's basically a one-joke short. Is the detective frofrog series going to be like this? One-joke shorts? Or is it going to be more like Ytown public, with long episodes with lots of jokes?

OK... I think I've bothered you enough. Keep up the good work.

McRhyme responds:

Thank you! It really nice to hear what you think. I'm chocked that you prefer the grafics of Ytown Public. I've used very different techniques, as you pointed out. Detective Frofrog will be much more like Ytown Public. A series with loads of jokes. But the grafics will be like these ones. Drawn frame to frame and with scanned real art JPEG's as backgrounds. It will take a LONG time before the first one is out! But hey! It took me a long to make this one as well and you still check out my stuff so, don't worry it'll come. Just be patient. The music was made by me, when I was in insane-mode. One night. Take care!

THOMAS!!! You're back!!!!

Your last flash movie was made like 2 years ago! I'm glad you've come back to making Flash movies. It's a shame that this one isn't as cool as the other ones. But it still rules.

pyropymp responds:

Holy Cats, you must be an old-time NG'er! I didn't expect people would actually remember me! Anyhoo, I got something that will rock some socks when it comes out, will take more time though... Thanks for stickin' around!

AHAH!

This is a great episode but it's... the final episode...I'm...just shocked... Great work!

McRhyme responds:

Yeah, this is the final episode of this season. There might be other seasons but not in 6 months... I need rest :)
